Yes, essentially there are 3 main phases. First, the contractor will perform what is known as ‘clearing and grubbing’, which is essentially clearing, cutting, or removing anything within the newly acquired Parish Right of Way (ROW). Secondly, once that ROW has been cleared, the utility relocation phase can begin. After the necessary utilities have been relocated, the roadway construction will be fully underway.
Residents can generally expect to see clearing and grubbing activities, demolition, utility relocations, then roadway construction. The sequence of construction for the actual roadway construction can vary, based on the contractor’s preference.
Because there is a long utility relocation period identified, we expect the project to take between 3 and 4 calendar years.
During construction it can be expected that there will be changes or interruptions of ‘normal life’. Once the project is complete, general drainage patterns should not change. However during construction, it is the contractor’s responsibility to maintain site drainage as well as access to everyone’s property. If there are any concerns or issues a resident may be experiencing because of standing water, or some other issue associated with construction, we would encourage them to go to our contact us page and submit a comment, or call the Forte and Tablada office so that we can be made aware of the issue, and work to resolve it.
Water, sewer, gas, electric, and communications will all be relocated because of the proposed project.
Generally, the utility work can take place without service interruptions, however during final ‘switchover’ to the new utility lines it is likely that services could be temporarily suspended. The utility providers or contractors should notify residents before this occurs; or try to make the switchovers without disruption, if possible.
There will be various road or lane closures that can be expected throughout construction, however access to residences and business will be maintained for the duration of the project. During construction please be mindful of temporary construction signage directing the flow, or path, the vehicles should follow.
